Hylands Estate Indian Wedding Photography

Vaishali and Jesson held their wedding celebrations at the gorgeous Hylands Estate in Essex. Hylands Estate, is surrounded by beautifully landscaped parklands, featuring a Grade II listed mansion, and a Grand Pavilion, it was the perfect wedding venue for Vaishali and Jesson’s wedding festivities.

Vaishali and Jesson’s day started with their civil ceremony, which took place inside the Mansion, surrounded by only their closest family and friends. After the formalities of making their marriage legal, we went outside where Vaishali and Jesson’s guests were ready to shower them with confetti. After spending a short while talking to their guests, we wandered off for a few portraits, before getting ready for the Hindu ceremony.

Jesson arrived back for his Indian wedding at Hylands Estate, all changed and ready for his baraat procession accompanied by dhol players, where made his way to greet Vaishali’s parents before commencing the Hindu ceremony. The ceremony was beautifully conducted by Vasudev Mehta, who had everyone smiling and laughing, even when emotions were running high. For me it was a total joy to photograph.

After the ceremony, we headed outside to wander further into the beautiful grounds of Hylands Estate, for a few portraits, before heading back for the Koda Kodi and the Vidai.

Once the formal Hindu ceremony was finished, everyone went to change again for the third and last time, for the wedding reception. The reception was amazing, everyone was ready to party, get their drink on (especially the jagers!) and celebrate Vaishali and Jesson’s wedding in style.

Hylands Estate is one of my favourite venues in the UK, its an exquisite venue, surrounded by natural splendour and is picture perfect from the formal Victorian Gardens to the ancient woodlands. There are so many beautiful locations to create stunning wedding portraits, or places your guests can roam during the break. The Victorian Gardens is absolutely beautiful featuring a small lily pond, two oak arbours clad in Wisteria and seasonal flowers surround it all, what more could you ask for! 

Elegant Settings For Your Indian Wedding at Hylands Estate

Hylands Estate features lavish and lovingly restored ceremony and reception rooms, with plenty of creative photo opportunities around the landscaped gardens. 

The Banqueting Room in Hylands Estate, is a beautifully restored new-baroque room with its gold leaf, scroll decor, hand painted wall motifs along with floor to ceiling windows makes it the perfect backdrop for an intimate ceremony or reception. 

The Drawing Room is a unique space with an ornate and gilded ceiling, a marble fireplace and hand painted wall motifs. The room overlooks the sweeping gardens and views opening out onto the East Terrace, which can be used for portraits or group photos too. 

The Grand Pavilion provides the perfect contemporary space for larger ceremonies with up to 300 guests, its a brilliant blank canvas for you  to create your own dream wedding settings. The Grand Pavilion features sparkling chandeliers, ivory drapes and floor to ceiling windows allowing natural light to flow through the room.

I’m very aware of how uncomfortable a staged moment can feel, and when you’re looking back at your photos years from now I want every moment to feel meaningful, honest and real. I want to transport you back to that very moment and remind you of how you felt and not remember me as the ‘hired photographer’ but more like a friend who discreetly captured your wedding story.

Being tasked with making an authentic record of your celebration at Hylands Estate – one that will still emotionally resonate and reignite all those precious memories when you look back – can be a bit overwhelming if you let it. But I love that challenge, the fact every one of those moments will only happen fleetingly before it’s gone, that’s what excites me about being a photographer. I’ve spent a long time honing my craft, and picked up more than a few awards on the way. It’s given me the confidence and the curiosity to constantly discover those meaningful differences for every couple that I’m privileged to shoot. 

I loved documenting a wedding at Hylands Estate. My natural documentary style is very discreet – I blend into the surroundings and ensure that your guests barely notice I’m there. I certainly won’t be prodding and posing them like some photographers do. To me, the most beautiful photos are the ones that are natural, genuine moments captured in the instant.
