“Rahul, we love it! You captured the day, so lovely! Thank you so much xxx”
This was my first time shooting a marquee wedding at home, and I had an absolutely brilliant time documenting Lydia and Joshua’s wedding day. They chose Joshua’s local church in Northill, Bedford to get married, before having their reception at Joshua’s family home’s back garden.
Having their wedding reception at home, meant that they could really do their own thing, personalise & design their wedding day exactly how they wanted it. The marquee was in the fields behind Joshua’s parent’s home, with amazing views over the Bedfordshire countryside.
I’ve said it over and over again, but its the people that make the wedding, Lydia and Joshua were funny, warm and totally in love with each other, which was clear to everyone to see on their wedding day. Lydia’s dad is one of the most charismatic people I have ever met at a wedding, so kind and extremely funny.
The wedding ceremony was beautifully conducted by the priest, with plenty of emotion and laughter. Following their ceremony, it was onto the reception, which incorporated some Greek traditions from Lydia’s side of the family, including plate smashing and then after the first dance, everyone joined in and danced the Zorba, it was such great fun photographing these traditions along with ducking from a plate nearly hitting my head.
I was initially supposed to be shooting Lydia and Joshua’s wedding in August, but Lydia became pregnant and her due date, is on the date of her August wedding, so they moved their wedding forward, one of the benefits of having your wedding at home. I was so thankful that I was still able to document their day, cos it was absolutely brilliant.
Right enough of me rambling on about their wedding day, here’s my favourite frames from Lydia and Joshua’s backyard marquee wedding.
I had an amazing time shooting my first backyard marquee wedding, it was the perfect setting for any Wedding Ceremony.
