Don’t get me wrong, posed wedding photos are fantastic and some of my favourite ever portfolio shots are portraits in London that took a little time to get right.
Not really.
The last thing I want to do is ask you — or your guests – to stand a certain way or perform for the camera. It’s your wedding, not a photoshoot.
You should be able to enjoy it properly, be present, and just be yourselves. That’s where the real moments come from — the natural expressions, the in-between reactions, the things you didn’t even realise were happening.
My approach is very much documentary-led. I’m observing, not directing. Blending in rather than taking over.
That’s also why a lot of my work has been recognised by organisations like This Is Reportage, Fearless Photographers and ISPWP — it’s all rooted in real moments and honest storytelling.
That said, I’ll always guide you when it actually helps – especially for a few relaxed portraits where the light is right and everything just comes together. But nothing forced. Nothing awkward. Nothing that takes you out of the day.
